Is CBD Marijuana and Will it Make Me High?

The selection of CBD products and supplements are coming to market at an unprecedented speed. However, there is one question that continues to be asked (for good reason) by many consumers: Is CBD marijuana and will it make me high? The answer to this question is, no and no.

What is CBD?

To explain why the answer is no, you must first understand the basic chemistry of the industrial hemp plant. CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound extracted from the hemp plant. Hemp is in the same family as marijuana (the cannabis family), but the chemical makeup of the two plants is very different. Hemp has considerably more CBD than marijuana and only negligible traces of THC (must be <0.3% by law), the chemical that gives marijuana its psychoactive effects (gets you high).

Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis plants, but have a different chemical make-up. That means a reputable brand of CBD oil cannot make you feel “high.” But it can unlock your body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Will CBD Show Up on a Drug Test?

It’s unlikely, but it could. Hemp does contain a VERY LOW amount of THC. So, conceivably, much like when you eat foods that contain poppy seeds, it could show up on a drug test. As a consumer it is very important you do your research to find a “trusted” brand of CBD that has lab tests posted on their websites showing what is in their products. These lab results are called Certificates of Analysis (COA) and should be available to any consumer. An example of this is the COA’s provided by ElementRx CBD products. Where Can I Find a Quality and Reliable CBD Product?

With literally hundreds of CBD companies now on the market, how do you know who to pick to get the best products? My first recommendation would be to start local. Instead of ordering your CBD products from a company thousands of miles away you should look towards your hometown manufacturers as a good place to start. In California and more specifically the Central Valley, consumers have an advantage. They have one of the top CBD oil manufacturers and consumer-facing product companies right in their own backyard. Element Rx CBD Oil is a local company, with local roots, started by individuals born and raised in Clovis, CA.

Hemp has created a new agricultural revolution across America and is also finding a home in California’s Central Valley. Our products are mixed and processed locally in a state-of-the-art ISO 7 (Class 10,000) Certified cleanroom facility, utilizing automatic filling, labeling, and packaging equipment. Our purpose-built cleanroom is an unsurpassed model of technology, designed to keep the outside environment from getting in. This approach enables our cleanroom to maintain a contaminant-free environment at all times, assuring delivery of a safe and ultra clean product.

Every batch of CBD that is created at our lab is tested on the premises before it is even bottled, these tests include purity, cannabinoid profile, metals, terpenes, residual solvents and pesticides. ISO Certification (International Organization for Standardization) is a seal of endorsement proving the validity of a business. Strict sanitation protocols and bottling processes ensure the safe production of CBD products to the highest industry standards.

Summary

  • Industrial Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant family, Cannabis sativa L., but are completely different in function, cultivation and application.

  • Marijuana generally has a high level of THC, the psychoactive compound that makes you high, and is used for medicinal or recreational purposes.

  • Hemp may contain a trace amount of THC (less than three-tenths of one percent are allowed), but hemp has significant higher levels of CBD.

  • CBD extracted from agricultural industrial hemp is legal under federal law, so long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. CBD extracted from marijuana is illegal in most states.
